Waldstein sounds as good as Richard Goode's CD October 26, 2008
I was looking for DVD recordings of Waldstein. I finally bought three of them from: Severin von Eckardstein, Daniel Barenboin (previously owned) and Emil Gilels.
Let me compare the three DVDs to the vast amount of CDs available. Here is how I rated a list of my CDs:
1. Richard Goode
2. Horowitz
3, Eugene Istomin, Daniel Barenboim, and Emil Giles.
4. Lots of others (either not rated or not worth mentioning)
The Waldstein in von Echardstein's DVD is the closest in tempo, cleanness and interpretation as that of Richard Goode's. If you like Goode's CD, I think you would like von Eckardstein's DVD.
