Add Keen Eddie to the long list of unique TV shows that never clicked with a mainstream following--but which found a small but devoted fan base, for whom this DVD set is a gift from above. New York cop Eddie Arlette (pugnaciously good-looking Mark Valley) fumbles a major drug bust and gets sent to London to mop up the mess he's made. But Eddie's New York attitude proves a successful addition to Scotland Yard, so ambitious Superintendent Johnson (Colin Salmon, Prime Suspect 2) decides to keep Eddie on the team--which suits his new partner, neurotic swinger Monty Pippin (Julian Rhind-Tutt, BBC miniseries Reckless) but infuriates Eddie's accidental flatmate, the luscious, tempestuous, and frequently scantily clad Fiona (Sienna Miller).

Individual shows follow self-contained investigations (like a stolen race-horse, a casino robbed by guys in Duran Duran masks, a school hazing gone too far, or a kidnapping by a French mob boss with an astrology obsession), while the rising sparks between Eddie and Fiona can be charted across the 13 episodes (which are presented in order of airdate, not the sequence in which they were created; the ideal sequence can be learned from various fan Web sites). Keen Eddie's quirky, syncopated rhythm can sometimes feel a little forced and the visual flash and rapid-fire editing owe a lot to the movies of Guy Ritchie (Snatch), but the result was nonetheless a distinctive show that deserved more of an audience than it got. This boxed set should give Keen Eddie a second chance. --Bret Fetzer

Description
KEEN EDDIE - THE COMPLETE SERIES follows New York City police officer, Eddie Arlette (Valley), whose luck always seems to be running out just when he needs it the most. Sent to England to get to the bottom of a botched drug bust, Eddie finds himself working with the Scotland Yard on a case that gets much worse before it gets better. Now Eddie must find a way to solve the case without getting into too much trouble himself.

2 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing   November 29, 2008

The series was great to watch... when it could be found. FOX shuffled it around to different time slots and after a few episodes started to play them out of order.

This box set has the episodes out of order as well. While the main part of the individual episodes are contained to the story, continuing story lines (like that with his roommate / the final shot of the city map) don't make sense at all. Add to that the fact that the original music has been stripped (which were greatly matched 80's tunes) and you end up with a bad taste in your mouth.

For anyone who like the original series... DON'T BUY!

If you have never seen the show before, have money to waste and are bored, you will find it entertaining, yet confusing at times.

If it is re-released in order, WITH the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK... I will buy it in a heartbeat!

4 out of 5 stars KEEN EDDIE - Lots of laughs   November 4, 2008
I purchased Keen Eddie as a birthday gift for my husband. We both enjoyed the short-lived series and were sad that it wasn't given more of a chance to gain a larger audience.

We watched all 13 episodes on the DVDs over a three week period and enjoyed it very much.

5 out of 5 stars Keen Eddie   September 8, 2008

Definitely not your ordinary detective show! Keen Eddie is an Amerian detective from New York City who has gone to London to continue with an investigation that started in NYC. From there, he is offered a chance to work with Scotland Yard on a full time basis. The phrase-you can take the boy out of the country but not the country out of the boy-takes on a new meaning here. This series is humorous, witty and a lot of fun. I would not suggest this show for the younger viewing audience however, as there are sexual references and innuendo. If you want something different from a mainstream detective show, one that is not too serious, this is a must see. There are still crimes to solve, criminals to catch, politics to navigate, and British etiquette to understand!

Okay I know the original music is missing but I insist to friends to watch my DVD set and when they do I have to beg to get it back and they didn't hear the original. That means 5 Stars folks !
