Shinedown?s highly anticipated third album, The Sound Of Madness, is due out on Atlantic Records on June 24, 2008. The record opens with lead single "Devour." Its heavy onslaught of ripping guitars and relentless drums would not sound out of place on a Guitar Hero soundtrack. Of the album, frontman Brent Smith says "In the seven years of this thing called Shinedown, I?ve seen a lot of different things - what we?ve all gone through on the road, things in our personal lives or witnessed firsthand through the fans that we?ve made and the relationships we?ve built with our audience. I think the biggest thing was I didn?t want to sugarcoat the way life can be sometimes." Their face-melting rock comes as no surprise, considering that the band hails from sultry Jacksonville, Florida. Their 2003 debut album, Leave A Whisper, and sophomore follow-up, Us And Them, have been RIAA-certified platinum and gold respectively and they have had songs featured on the WWE, ESPN and in various video games. Shinedown will be out on the road this spring and summer, playing a handful of radio shows and outdoor festivals including Rock On The Range before setting out on their own headlining tour.

5 out of 5 stars How Have I Missed This Band ?   January 7, 2009
I heard Second Chance on the radio and it just blew me away.Brent Smiths voice is so unreal. It took me awhile to get the name of the band and once i did I purchased this cd keeping my fingers crossed that there would be a couple of more tracks that would be just as good as Second Chance and I got more than I hoped for.I could listen to Call Me with just his vocals alone.Breaking Inside is sooo good. What I love is the music doesnt over power his voice you can hear both and they work so well. The only song I didnt like was Cry For Help out of 11 tracks thats saying alot.

5 out of 5 stars awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   December 28, 2008
This CD is awesome. For those fellow rockers out there, this is a great band. I heard them on Headbanger's Ball one night and ordered the cd the next day. They have several cd's out, but this is the only one I have purchased so far. You won't be disappointed. I give it 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Album, A "must have" album!!!   December 25, 2008
Title says it all, this is just a fantastic piece of work. Its a little more mellow than there old stuff, but just a great album. One of the few albums you can listen all the way through and love every song! A must have for your collection!

5 out of 5 stars Get their sounds now!   December 23, 2008
This band is one of the most played sounds on my ipod. Brent's voice is simply amazing. For anyone looking for some GREAT rock sounds that you can sing to, (if you can sing like that, you'll be in a band) check these guys out. Every cent well spent! Audioslave, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, Soil, in the same vein as those bands. Buy their sounds and enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars This is one stellar band!   December 15, 2008
I've been impressed with their 2 other discs and couldn't wait for this one to arrive. When I first popped it in, I could really sink my teeth into the rockers, but was a little put off with it having many numbers at slow or mid-tempo.

After about 5 more spins, all the songs started to really grow on me. Now, I'm enjoying them all. The vocals sound great and strongly carry the melodies. This is a great rock band. The hard tunes are in your face and the slower tunes become infectious. This is the next best rock release since a guy named Sebastian Bach released ANGEL DOWN last year...only Bach's is more in your face metal.

It is a shame they didn't include the songs "Junkies for Fame" and "Own You" with the regular release. Both are standard rock tunes, just done a lot better than what the other bands can do. I think Itunes...maybe even Amazon will allow you to download them.
