Product Description Legendary groups Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire perform together at the Greek Theatre. Genre: Music Video - Pop/Rock Rating: NR Release Date: 28-JUN-2005 Media Type: DVD
Amazon.com The '70s and '80s rule as two of the most popular bands from that era join forces on Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire - Live at the Greek Theatre, a two-disc, nearly three-hour concert recorded in Los Angeles in 2004. These groups scored dozens of hits in their heydays, and if neither has come up with much of anything that's new in the past two decades, the sold-out audience at the Greek Theatre could hardly care less. Both Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire, have soldiered on despite key personnel changes over the years (Chicago bassist-singer Peter Cetera and EWF founder Maurice White are long gone, and much missed); here they perform energetic and tasteful versions of everything from "Make Me Smile," "I'm a Man," and "Saturday in the Park" (Chicago) to "That's the Way of the World," "Fantasy," and "Serpentine Fire" (EWF), among many others, to rapturous response. Nothing too exciting about all of that--in fact, it's a bit like witnessing a couple of very skilled tribute bands at work--but there are a few surprises, as when Chicago keyboardist-singer Bill Champlin takes the lead on "After the Love Has Gone" (which he co-wrote) and EWF singer Philip Bailey returns the favor on Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now." The highlights are the first and last portions of the show, when the two bands (complete with horn sections) share the stage for "September," "25 or 6 to 4," "Shining Star," and more, displaying genuine joy at performing together and generating a huge, infectious sound delivered with high definition visuals and digital audio. --Sam Graham

Earth, Wind, and Fire on Fire! August 18, 2008 Don't buy this for the Chicago set. Its ok, but lacks the brilliant Peter Cetera vocals. Earth, Wind, and Fire is the reason to buy and listen to this. The music and vocals are great and sound the same as they did 30 years ago. Way of the World is beautiful and they play all the favorites. One of the best music DVD's I own strictly for EW&F.
Great Combo Show August 16, 2008 Two of my favorite groups of all time in one concert. Nice concert from the Greek Theatre with Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire performing separately and together - contrasts the two styles and horn sections nicely. Great sound and the HD video looks good - lots of camera angles, but some from unmanned cameras fixed to things like the drum kit that naturally move around some when the drummer is playing - fortunately they cut away from these shots often in the editing. If you like these groups you will like this one for sure.
Outstanding performance August 9, 2008 This Blu-ray disc is worth every penny of an already incredible price.
The performance and blend of the two bands was excellent.
I must say that the song I wanted to listen although it was listed as included within the EWF list of songs ("The Way You Move") was not actually performed, but just as low volume background while doing the band introductions.
If I would have a suggestion for the camera crew was that while the idea of fixing the cameras on the stage floor might have been clever considering how busy that stage was, it was not a good one at times due to the vibrations that were transmitted to the shots, especially noticeable on objects behind the close ups. However, the mixing was made in a way that reduced that effect due to the short shots.
Overall, the experience was excellent.

Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire August 7, 2008 The perfect Concert CD for a warm summer night! Brought back memories of my first Chicago concert....Both groups still have good pipes after all these years. An interesting combination of having them perform together. Two Thumbs UP!!!
OUTSTANDING PURCHASE August 2, 2008 This concert on Blu-Ray is absolutely fabulous! I can't say enough good things about it. The video and audio are both very well done. What a treat!
