Godsmack Good! October 6, 2008 If you want to listen to a crisp hard blend of powerful vocals and clean guitar riffs, look no further than Godsmack. The video has a professional quality that is both pleasing and palatable to the viewer. The drum solo is engaging--and best of all--it is not an exercise in self-indulgence, as most drum solos tend to be. Most of the songs are top shelf material and are presented with a sincerety and professionalism that escapes most artists at a similar stage in their careers. It was with pure pleasure that I watched this band's concert footage.
This will make you appreciate Godsmack. September 19, 2008 I wasn't into Godsmack for a long time. I had a preconceived notion that they were an Alice in Chains rip-off because of what many people said so I never really tried to listen to them. Then I heard their first CD in it's entirety from a friend at work and I decided to get a few CD's. Eventually I grew to like them a lot, then after watching live performances such as this I can now say that I love their music and am a huge fan.
After watching this DVD you realize they are a bunch of laid back guys who have no ego problems and are really about the music and work hard to put on a great show. And Sully is hilarious with his Boston accent, especially with his description of the "fart" recordings.
This also makes you realize how talented the man is. Not only does he sing and play guitar, he plays drums rather amazingly along with Shannon in the drum battle. It's great to see a drum "solo" where the entire band is involved but the drums are featured and not unaccompanied. The drum battle is simply awesome and I loved every minute of it.
Speaking of drums, Shannon Larkin is an absolute beast on skins and he is by far my favorite drummer to watch live. He is so full of energy and aggression, but not without finesse. Sometimes he steals the show and that's a good thing.
The only complaint that I have is that if you watch the movie part with all the interviews and such, certain songs are only shown in segments like "Whatever". But if you watch it from the concert listing you can see the entire song. And they could have made the back to back songs flow a little better.
Though nothing's perfect, the performances are awesome and the backstage fun is funny, light hearted and entertaining enough to make you realize these guys are for real.
Very good DVD...Great Drumming May 8, 2008 Nice mixture of interviews, behind the scenes, and live stuff. You come away knowing who this band is. Cool group of guys who know how to deliver a great live show. More bands should do dvds like this. The drumming is sensational. The drum "skit" is worth the DVD. Sully does it all. Vocals and stuff. Highly recommend.
Grip it and Rip it ! December 3, 2007 I've always enjoyed Godsmack's music - but haven;t listened in some time (own the first 2 offerings).
Rented this on a whim - simply unforgettable! Perhaps the best concert heavy rock footage I've seen in quite some time. The sound (tone) that they got off the board for this was just....unbelievable. The concert itself totally rocked - what can you say - these guys are die-hard rockers from Boston. 'Nuff said.
Sully is a music machine - can't stress this enough - the guy is gifted. Shannon - probably the hottest drummer I have seen in 10+ years.
All of the members have that rare quality of musicianship without the burden of elitism so often seen with today's "educated musicians" - you know, the Berklee folk? - yup.
Godsmack is the latest saviour of hard rock/metal.
Get this DVD, stick it in La Machina and crank it - you won't be disappointed.
Godsmack rocks November 4, 2007 PRO: I am not a hard core rock fan. My last hard core rock LP purchase was in hey days of KISS and LED ZEP. I saw this disc at a trade show demo. I bought it because of the excellent drumwork track between Shannon and Sully. That particular track is a very good surround sound demo disc. After watching and listening to the track, I decided to watch the entire album. It's a very good album. I was impressed with how talented and grounded they were. These guys are "rocks stars" in their job but I was impressed with how focused they are. These are regular extremely talented individuals making a living to provide for their families. The only difference is God "smacked" them with talent, luck, and opportunity (pardon the pun) to show their craft and get paid for it. Very admirable.
