Description Four years unjustly jailed haven't dampened the spirits or determination of Nikki Finn. The spunky parolee sets out to clear her name - and sets the Big Apple spinning in deliriously funny ways. "Madonna is sexy and funny - a very engaging comedian," Vincent Canby of The New York Times wrote of her work in Who's That Girl. The music/movie superstar displays kicky comic flair and sings four terrific soundtrack tunes (Causing a Commotion, The Look of Love, Can't Stop and the title song). Griffin Dunne co-stars as an uptight, soon-to-wed attorney whose mild lifestyle swerves into the path of uproarious oncoming traffic courtesy of Nikki. This frisky caper proves screwball comedy is alive and swell.
Amazon.com After Desperately Seeking Susan, Madonna was proclaimed a promising screen presence, but the one-two punch of Shanghai Surprise and Who's That Girl put a dent in her ascent. Directed by James Foley, who worked with Sean Penn in At Close Range (and shot the video for "Papa Don?t Preach"), it's an aggressively 1980s gloss on the screwball comedies of the 1930s. Jonathan Demme pulled off the gambit in Something Wild, but lightning did not strike twice. As the proceedings begin, platinum blonde bubblehead Nikki Finn (Madonna in Judy Holliday-gone-punk mode) has just been released from prison for a crime she didn't commit. Loudon Trott (Griffin Dunne, After Hours), a fastidious tax attorney, is assigned by future father-in-law Mr. Worthington to make sure she gets on the bus to Philly. (Turns out Worthington was involved with Nikki's bid in the pokey.) Loudon is also charged with delivering a rare cougar to eccentric superior Montgomery Bell (Sir John Mills)--on the day before his nuptials. In short order, the cat escapes and Nikki drags Loudon away from his wedding preparations to clear her name. Along the way, these two diametrically opposed entities fall improbably in love. The movie may have bombed, but the soundtrack, featuring four Madonna tracks, was a hit. Co-written by Ken Finkleman (The Newsroom) and lensed by Jan DeBont (Speed), Who's That Girl is manna for Madonna-philes. All others are advised to proceed with caution--or head straight for Howard Hawks? timeless Bringing Up Baby instead. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Vintage Madonna. October 2, 2008 Who's That Girl is the ultimate Madonna soundtrack. There are 4 original songs that Madonna sings which include: Who's That Girl, Can't Stop, Causing a Commotion, and The Look of Love. The last song I have mentioned is Madonna's most beautiful ballad of the '80s, too bad it was never released as a single. I highly recommend this fabulous purchase if you are a huge Madonna fan like myself. Enjoy!
  Who's That Girl.....Now? September 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The 80's brought us a lot of fun comedies. This is one of them. Though the movie was panned by critics at that time, let's face it, it's a fun movie to watch where you don't take it seriously and just laugh. Madonna is just flat out funny! Yes, she can act.
I give it 5 stars because: September 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
...it's pretty damn funny! If you go into it thinking your gonna be watching Superbad, you are gonna hate this! It is a great simple comedy. I have heard Madonna herself trash the movie and her performance, pretty messed up. Can you picture anyone else playing that part??? There is so much subtle humor in it that it's easy to see why it was panned. Also, the action sequences are shot just like an action movie. Damn good combination. "He's both of Daddy's hands!"
Who's That Girl Forever! September 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, Who's That Girl is one of the most underappreciated movies made by Madonna. The critics and SHOCKINGLY the fans feel iffy about the intire movie. The very thought of fans bad talking the movie makes me emotional. The movie was MEANT to be a campy-like comedy and those who GET Madonna GET it PERIOD!. As a die hard fan of Madonna's since my childhood, I understand the intent of the movie's material and it IS a REAL GOOD movie. Most importantly, let me just say that the ''Who's That Girl'' song will FOREVER be inspirational to me. It started in 1987 when I was going on 6 years old and MTV was on almost if not every home television set. I would watch MTV videos, and at 6 years old in the 80's let me tell you that music videos seemed like HUGE peices of million dollar art work. Well, the summer of 1987 was when I first viewed Madonna's video for Who's That Girl and I remember dancing to it, laughing at the movie clips intertwined in the video, and most importantly the little oh' so adorable Madonna cartoon throughout the video--that cartoon made me the artist that I am today!. I have been drawing since 1987 (Grade School), and sketching throughout Jr. High, held some awards in High school for drawing and now I design for clothen options for future opportunities like fashion designing, advertisement and/or cartoons. I am honored with the gift and talent I possess but I must say that I do owe part of my talent to Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone for sparking that talent hidden within that I (of course) always had. Madonna touched me then with her cartoon debut in the ''Who's That Girl'' video and nothing she does today goes unloved by me!. Oh' and let's face it, the song is one of the most rhythm driven songs of her's among MANY--''Causing A Comotion'' and ''The Look Of Love'' are definitely 2 major greats as well!
Love It......... September 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
