"Cold Metal, gets in my blood and my attitude" !!!! October 3, 2008 For Iggy Pop fans everywhere this is a great DVD. There is no fancy post production or annoying editing after the fact. It's the concert from beginning to end as it was - loud, sweaty, and relentless in front of an appreciative European audience of adoring Iggy fans.
Recorded live in 1999 at the beautiful Ancienne Belgique theatre in Brussels with his excrement kicking tour band The Trolls, this DVD has excellent sound and photography that captures the raw energy lacking in so many bands of today.
For me the real concert starts with Espanol, Raw Power, Search and Destroy and just gets better when they do I Wanna Be Your Dog. You can tell the audience was having fun here as thousands of heads and bodies are bouncing up and down in unison to the hard, grinding, metal crushing beat of The Trolls while Iggy like a man possessed, becomes one with the music, screaming at the band to play harder. As smoke is rising from various corners of the audience during some of the tunes, we actually see one of the middle aged security guards at the front bouncing his head and body to the beat as he is plainly mesmerized by Iggy while he is watching and enjoying it all with the rest of the audience. Good music knows no age limit for sure !!!!
As the band is building up to a brain smashing version of Death Trip, Iggy steps up to the mike, takes a sip of beer, gently passes it down to someone, touches fingers with another audience member, he grabs the mike, goes to sing, and then throws it down in disgust when he discovers its not working.
The band gets louder and the beat gets stronger as Iggy struts around waiting for the roadie to run up and set up a new mike. Having done that Iggy slowly walks back to the ready mike and starts singing in front of one happy audience member as he finishes Iggy's beer. During the songs Iggy is constantly egging the band on to "get louder", "play harder", and "get rhythm", not because they arent playing well because they are. He knows it can get louder and better and he gets that out of them on every song.
The music from this dvd was recorded on the cd called The Passenger Live in U.S.A.
Although I am grateful for that, to me the cd was a problem because it literally recorded the concert from the beginning and included all the audience noise after each song consequently leaving no room on the cd for the last four songs of the actual concert - No Fun, Death Trip, Sixteen, and Louie Louie.
The producer of the cd could have eliminated some of the concert stuff including No Shit, Nazi Girlfriend, plus the audience noise, and may have had room on the cd for good music like Death Trip. The cd was done in Europe but one has to wonder if whoever made the cd the way they did was because they can't tell a good Iggy Pop song from a rock in the road or were they just plain dumb. I don't like paying good money to hear an audience make noise for a minute after each song.
On the DVD we see Iggy between songs, taking a drink, waving to the audience and playing around. The same thing on the cd is just the noise of the audience. This is another example of an idiot producer screwing up what could have been a great cd and as a result creating just a good one. There were four good songs left at that concert and the cd missed it because it included crap like No Shit, Nazi Girlfriend, and minutes of audience noise. Thanks a lot.
Does anyone out there know if there is a cd recording available or mp3 downloads available for these last 4 songs that got lost in the static? Please leave a comment and let me know.
This DVD concert is a terrific addition to any collection of great music. You won't be disappointed.

ProShot, Great Sound, Great Band & The Ageless One.... December 17, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
No one, I repeat, no one puts as much energy into his performance as Iggy Pop. This dvd is no exception. Iggy is much more energetic and animated than the recent DVD release with the Stooges from Detroit. The camera shots here are great and this has got to be one of the best sounding dvds I have. The show can be played in either 5.1 surround or straight 2 channel stereo (10 out of 10 soundboard recording). Anytime you get a concert dvd, one key rating factor is "rerun" value (ie how many times will you end up watching the dvd more than once). I have had this dvd about 1 week and must have cued it up at least 10 times. Even if I'm not watching, I just crank it up and enjoy the music. Even without the video, the audio alone would make this one of the best Iggy live recordings in my collection; "Avenue B" is that good. You like electric guitar? Whitey Kurst is a killer guitarist. With a second guitarist on board to handle the rhythm chores, Whitey justs rips it up throughout the show. Some of the best lead guitar you will here this side of Slash. The only beef I have is the constantly changing camera shots. The camera shot literally changes about every 1-3 seconds which can become a little annoying after awhile. So as far as the purchase goes.... For longtime fans? A no brainer here, especially with zShops practically giving them away. For anyone, I mean anyone interested in what Iggy is all about, you can start here and be happy. This is rock, real music....not pop, not dance, not hip-hop, or yes, not even punk...this is open up and bleed rock n' roll as only Iggy Pop can do it. I love it.....
