This is an excellent video for all beginners wanting to continue their practice in the privacy of their home. Very comprehensive. Many teachers I know use borrow/sell this to their students so they can further their studies. A must have for the drummer's home library. The Rastaman says, "Godey!"

This is a great home study tool for new students of West African djembe drumming, or for those who think they want to learn more. Covers basic technique, drum care and maintenance, and basic rhythms. The instructor has an engaging, easygoing manner, and he knows his stuff.
Great introduction to djembe March 12, 2008
This is a great introduction to the djembe. Clear, step-by-step instruction. It is a good basic beginning instruction guide to have for anyone interested in learning the djembe. Especially helpful is the instruction on tuning your drum. I have been a student of Taylor for some years and he's the best!
Great DVD to teach all the basics! March 11, 2008
This DVD is great for all levels of djembe players! I've taken lessons and still had plenty to learn from this. The full songs even allow you to practice solo-ing. But I really think it is great for beginner to intermediate players. I played this for a few friends who'd never played and they still had some beats down after the first viewing. The choice of viewing angles really helps develop your technique too. Definitely a great purchase.
