Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
El Guincho is Pablo Diaz-Reixa, born in Spain. This release is a mix of afro-beat percussion, calypso harmonies, psych tropicalia, world music samplers, doo wop, trance repetition, underwater pop, steel drums, and island feeling plus club oriented song structures, uptempo beats, and exotica production.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Percussive, VERY percussive   November 23, 2008
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

not really too much to notice at first aside from the drums... lots of percussion. but it grows on you and you find yourself hitting play after it ends and going back for more immediately. did I mention the drums? the different layers of drums and the energy they induce in you??? try to give it a GOOD listen to see if you like them, but it will get under your skin. just thinking about it makes me want to put it on and dance around the room. seriously, when I was listening to it for the first time, my mom came in to ask me a question and she started dancing in place.

if the ubiquitous "they" ever think of the ultimate collaboration, it should have this dude doing the beats, Juana Molina doing the background atmospherics, Q-Tip, Quasimoto and maybe Talib Kweli doing the verses. "they" could also have broken and dented helium tanks as the cover art (go ahead and do this!!! you don't need to give me any royalties for the idea!!!)

disclaimer: if you don't have natural rhythm, you might want to pick up something from 3 Doors Down instead. nothing wrong with them, but if you're looking at this review, you probably already have an idea about it (and will therefore appreciate it). f it, I'm gonna' go ahead and give it 5 stars (was going to be 4 stars, but thinking about the energy of the album got me all worked up, so I had to reconsider).
