Lost 15 Pounds in 3 Months October 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After three months of using this video, I've gone from being completely sedentary to being capable of working out 4-5 times per week for up to 45 minutes at a time. I've also lost 15 pounds.
Since many reviewers seem to have had trouble getting started with this program, I thought someone might find it helpful if I related the way I got up and running with it. Plan on exercising to the video at least 4 times weekly.
Week 1: For the first week I only worked out to the 12-minute "getting started" sequence. This allowed me not only to learn the various moves, but also to get started slowly. I didn't think it would be a good idea to try to jump right into the whole routine, after years of being a couch potato.
Week 2: In the second week I added Combo 1 to the 12-minute getting started routine.
Week 3: This week I began doing Combos 1 and 2 and dropped the getting started routine.
Week 4: By now I had worked up to Combos 1, 2, and 3.
Week 5: This week I began doing all four combinations on the video.
A couple of weeks later, I began doing some of the high-impact moves -- again starting only with Combo 1, then adding an additional combo at the high-impact level each week until I was doing them all that way.
The routine is pretty fun and Gay Gasper is a motivating, instructive teacher. Highly recommended.
Even a klutz can follow along! April 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is truly a wonderful exercise video for beginners. I am one the most uncoordinated people I know and I've never done any kind of exercise workout. I started out by watching the whole video all the way through and then did just the basic moves for a couple of weeks until I could do all the moves without making a mistake. Then I moved on to the combos. I now do this workout every other day with a strength training workout on the days in between. It's been a couple of months and I've only lost a few pounds but I feel GREAT!
A great "first". April 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the first aerobic dvd I ever bought. This is where I learned the moves that I use today when I do other workouts. I think it's a great dvd for anyone who wants to know what a grapevine and a mambo is - or any other basic step. I still work up a sweat while doing this but now I skip the first part. Whenever someone asks me if it's hard to do aerobics at home I just lend them this and let them try it out. So far - most of them have kept on working out :)
I own this dvd and LOVE the workout!! April 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the VHS version of this workout a few years back. When I discovered that it was available on DVD and immediately purchased the DVD! I would consider myself an intermediate exerciser but I wasn't one when I first purchased the tape.
I found Gay Gasper to be a very pleasant instructor and she has excellent cueing. She is very motivating and is one of the reasons that I will keep this tape in my library. I didn't find the moves complicated and Gay does provide a 12 minute aerobic session where by she explains each of the aerobic moves. So I am not sure why some reviewers had trouble doing the basic moves. Gay suggests that you do the 12 minute session before the 38 minute "Feel The Heat" workout. This will provide a 50 minute workout.
I've had this workout for several years and frequently use the workout in my exericse rotation.
A little fast , but pretty good! March 17, 2008 It's not exactly for dummies, but begginers can definately benefit from it. I enjoy the energy of this workout, and it leaves me sweating. The moves can be a bit confusing at times, but if done repeatedly, you will catch on. Not a bad dvd at all, and hey you burn alot of calories and fat in the process.
