Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
UK two track CD pressing of the first single to be lifted from their highly anticipated 2008 album Dig Out Your Soul. `The Shock Of The Lightning' is regarded by principal songwriter Noel Gallagher as one of the band's most instant songs ''because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. `The Shock Of The Lightning' basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there's a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best.'' The B-side to the single is the sought after Chemical Brothers remix of `Falling Down', another song from the forthcoming album. The Chemical Brothers' remix is a Psychedelic, acid-tinged take of the track which has been climbing club and radio charts after their label sent it to a handful of DJs around the world. Big Brother.

5 out of 5 stars "...come in, come out, toniiiiiiight!"   October 1, 2008

Truth be told, Oasis haven't sounded as raw and aggressive as they do on The Shock of the Lightning since Champagne Supernova!

The song comes charging at you like a stampede of bulls running through the wilderness. It's that fast, that furious, and that pulsating. The signature Oasis sound of old that includes layers upon layers of guitars, and Liam sneering lines like "Love is a time machiiiiiiiiine, up on the silver screeeeeeen," creating an enormous wall of sound, is back with a vengeance. With a repeated mantra-like bridge "come in, come out, toniiiiight!", The Shock of the Lightning is gauranteed to please all Oasis fans, and even draw new fans to one of the most controversial bands of our time. And you thought Oasis were washed up! Think again! The song is also destined to land on Oasis's concert setlists for the rest of their years. Keep in mind that I got this impression when I heard the 23-second sneak preview of the song over a month ago.

The b-side, the Chemical Brothers remix of Dig Out Your Soul album track Falling Down, sounds even better than the a-side here! Noel sings his heart out, again, about how the summer sun blows his mind, and how everything seems to fall down on all that he ever knew, questioning religion in the process. If you thought the remix sounds wonderful, just wait til you hear the album version!

This is the most solid single Oasis have produced since What's The Story Morning Glory.
