Amazon.com Canadian alt-rockers Barenaked Ladies get a dynamic 10-year retrospective on this entertaining compilation. Springing from the same native soil as Mike Myers--and brimming with a similarly irreverent sense of humor--BNL are seen here in semi-jumbled chronology, evolving from home-movie primitives (their first video was financed by a Canadian arts fund) to full-blown video stars in the dazzling "One Week" clip directed by McG of Charlie's Angels fame. Thanks to endless replays in a Mitsubishi car commercial, "One Week" is BNL's most recognized hit, and the video is arguably their best to date. But with 16 others to choose from--all in glorious 5.1-channel surround--it's hard to pick a favorite (we're going with "Alternative Girlfriend," in case you're wondering). It's not all great--the concert footage is marred by muddy recording--but BNL's running commentary is as fun as their videos, and with a DVD-ROM "ReVoice" karaoke feature, you can croon "One Week" to your heart's content. --Jeff Shannon
Description You haven't seen Barenaked Ladies until you've seen Barelaked Nadies (yep, that's the title). For the first time, not only are all the videos from Barenaked Ladies collected in one place, but each has been remastered in 5.1 surround sound for this DVD. Barelaked Nadies is the alternative pop band's ultimate video retrospective, spanning 1992-2001 with 17 music videos plus surround sound concert footage from the pay-per-view event "The Great Guinness Toast Barenaked Ladies: All Their Greatest Hits Live from the Roseland Ballroom" plus rare interview clips and commentary plus an exclusive karaoke feature.

A must for any true BNL fan. 2/3 of the videos on this DVD I have never seen before, (they were only shown in Canada). The Live concert footage alone is worth the price of this DVD. My wife & I watched it on a Saturday night & could not believe when it was over three hours had gone by. As a record collector with over 5000 albums, 2000 45's & 3000 CD's in my collection I can assure you that you won't be sorry with this purchase.
THE BEST! February 18, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this DVD! It has videos that aren't availible online like: Shoe box (which gets no respect), Lovers in a Dangerous Time, and What a Good Boy. It has live footage like: One Week, Pinch Me, and Brian Wilson. Oh, and a DVD ROM feature I've haven't tried yet, but will. The commentary is both very entertaining and very interesting. BNL talks about little-known facts about each video. I guess my fave video is Shoe box...of lieeeeeeeeees...yeah, sorry. I couldn't ask for anything better!

We never got BNL video's down here in Australia, so I knew the band only from there music the odd QuickTime of there video's & there enhanced CD's.
The Ladies are a rare breed & one of the few bands or artists out there that I will buy any of their products without reservations. They always have been extremely high quality in all aspects of the bands persona & this DVD is no different.
It was great to finally see there video's & I really loved all of them to be honest. The DVD is a good watch like any music DVD. The DVD itself is well made, easy to navigate & sounds great to, as you would expect.
This DVD comes into it's own when you watch the bands commentaries on each of the video's. It was a great way to know more about the band its dynamics & the history. They also had me rolling round with laughter; they are honestly very funny & genuine people.
I highly recommend this DVD to any BNL fan or anyone that wants to see some interesting visuals to some great music.
I never had MTV - poor little me! August 27, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
For all you poor folks who never had cable (including me), you now have a chance to see the BNL video treasure trove. Probably the best moments are explaining who the girl is in "Alternative Girlfriend," why John and Yoko love the Ladies and how "The Old Apartment" got made by a well-connected BNL fan. As usual, the best part (besides seeing the videos, if you haven't) is their remarks- that is, commentary - on what was going on, what the original intention was and how it (mostly) ended up in flames by the time the video got made. These guys don't take themselves seriously, but if you've followed them for the last eleven years like I have- you know that these guys are for real. Though they joke a lot, they've got something to say and aren't afraid to cross Yoko Ono. What more could you ask for?
