Bringing Josh Groban?s majestic yet intimate voice to Christmas music is truly a gift this holiday season. The young Adult Contemporary star?s fourth studio album brings together the traditional such as Silent Night with the contemporary such as I?ll Be Home For Christmas and the new, Thankful. Featuring duets with Country?s Faith Hill and R&B?s Brian McKnight, and inspirational music?s master choir, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and produced by the illustrious David Foster the album?s wide appeal promises that a timeless Christmas music classic will be beneath the tree this year.

The Grammy-nominated, twenty-something, pop-classical phenomenon's fourth studio album is an expertly accomplished entry to the holiday marketplace. Noël tackles the familiar sounds of holiday music with a charmingly eclectic array of guest vocalists and a wide range of material. The songs range from the sacred to the secular, while Groban--buoyed in spots by none other than the London Symphony Orchestra--soars in his duets with Brian McKnight, Faith Hill, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There's even a song with a gospel choir directed by Kirk Franklin. Produced yet again by crossover maestro David Foster, the arrangements never overwhelm the songs. Groban's smooth and supple vocals can be hard to categorize--seeing how his range is somewhere in-between a high baritone and a low tenor--but he always finds and emphasizes the emotional core of these songs. And whether they have origins in pop or classical music seems not to matter. The addition of messages from troops stationed in Iraq on top of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is undeniably heart-wrenching, while the album's highlight is its most spare song, "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," which finds Groban alone at his piano, sounding very much like some kind of angel. --Mike McGonigal

5 out of 5 stars Life touched by Josh Groban's "Noel"   November 30, 2008

Josh Groban's beautiful rendiction of familiar, beloved Carols is a reminder of God's love for mankind. Secular songs bring reminders of Christmases past. "I'll Be Home for Christmas" is especialy touching as it features the voices of servicemen and women far from home in service to their country. I was given Josh's "Noel" as a Christmas gift in 2007. I enjoyed it so much that I gifted a friend with "Noel" early this season so she can enjoy throughout the holidays. I enjoy listening all year!

Josh is my favorite singer and I have all of his albums. This Christmas album is special and I love it. His voice is that of an angel.

4 out of 5 stars So SAD - So Disappointed...   November 28, 2008

I've waited sooo Very Long for a Josh Groban Christmas CD - but now that he made one, it's really, TRULY Disappointing that the Incredible song BELIEVE from The Polar Express - is NOT included on it. He sounds sooo GREAT and I've been looking for this song on ANY of his CDs - nowhere... Such a Shame...

4 out of 5 stars It would have been 5stars if "Oh Holy Night"was on the CD   November 27, 2008

"Oh Holy Night" is my all time favorite CHRISTmas song, and NO ONE sings this classic like Josh Groban. When I bought his newest CD,I didn't even look at the tracks.I was sure this number had to be on the record.
Its also doesn't make sense that "Believe" is not included.
The other CHRISTmas cuts are great, but "Noel" would have been perfect if "Oh Holy Night "and "Believe"was on the CD.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing album   November 26, 2008

I purchased Josh Groban's "Noel" CD a few weeks back.
I wasn't sure how he would sound on a Christmas album because, let's face it, not many singers can sing Christmas songs. I listened to it and he sings Christmas songs beautifully. He has such a melodic voice that bodes well with Christmas songs. Buy this album if you are a fan of Josh's, you will not be disappointed!
