This 1987 thriller was a predictable hit with the teen audience it worked overtime to attract. Like most of director Joel Schumacher's films, it's conspicuously designed to push the right marketing and demographic buttons, and granted, there's some pretty cool stuff going on here and there. Take Kiefer Sutherland, for instance. In Stand by Me he played a memorable bully, but here he goes one step further as a memorable bully vampire who leads a tribe of teenage vampires on their nocturnal spree of bloodsucking havoc. Jason Patric plays the new guy in town, who quickly attracts a lovely girlfriend (Jami Gertz), only to find that she might be recruiting him into the vampire fold. The movie gets sillier as it goes along, and resorts to a routine action-movie showdown, but it's a visual knockout (featuring great cinematography by Michael Chapman) and boasts a cast that's eminently able (pardon the pun) to sink their teeth into the best parts of an uneven screenplay. --Jeff Shannon

5 out of 5 stars I created a monster!   November 21, 2008
I purchase this dvd for my daughter who is a big goosebump fan, I remember this movie being a big hit when I was growing up, since I could not remember all the parts, I screen the movie first, before letting my 8yr old watch it, and thought it would be fine, it did not have any nudity, or sexual scenes except for one part which was very minor compare to whats on T.V today, there is one part of the movie that is a little gruesum, but it goes so fast it dosent have much impact. There is alot of humor which softens the movie, saying all that, my daughter absolutely loves this movie, she has watch it over 10times, I think she has a crush on David (Keifer Sutherland). I hate to have to disapoint her and tell her that David is all grown up now.
If you are consider getting this for a younger child please view it first, every child is different, I thought it was a great movie, but I know I couldnt show this to some of my childs friends.

5 out of 5 stars Brings back such good memories.   November 21, 2008
I can understand if the Newer generation of kids are not digging this movie. I must say though that this is one of the best films of the 80's. Personally, I think it's untouchable. The lost boys: The tribe doesn't even come close to the greatness of the this one which is the original. It's really hard to put into words though because I grew up in the 80's and this movie was strongly talked about at that time. For people that grew up in the 80's and were old enough to get into the movie, this movie gives an unexplainable warmth that rushes over you. The songs in the movie go extremely well with the movie. Everything from the music to the actors were perfect, If I could somehow change one thing...I wouldn't even dare.

This movie just brings back so many awesome memories of that time in my life. The 80's were really good for these horror flicks but this movie is a complete gem all on it's own.

Do not miss out on this movie, you will love it.

1 out of 5 stars Two hours I'll never get back   November 3, 2008

My girlfriend made me watch this movie. Halfway through I was fantasizing about Corey Feldman staking me through the heart just to end the agony. Horrible acting, cheesey dialog, half baked delivery, and worse, it's not remotely funny or cool. Except for Corey Haim's clothes. Those are funny.

5 out of 5 stars Sleep all day! Party all night!   October 8, 2008
THE LOST BOYS is not a comedy yet has many comedy aspects. This film never took itself too seriously but it didn't make fun of itself either. The scary moments, when they come, convey the real horror of life and death without mocking it. The Lost Boys along with a few Vampire Films from the 80's helped establish what we view as the modern Vampire. This film was written by Janice Fischer, James Jeremias and Jeffrey Boam. Directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Brooke McCarter and Dianne Wiest.

A mother takes her 2 sons to California to move in with her father after her recent divorce. The oldest son makes friends with the wrong crowd and the younger makes friends with a couple boys claiming to be Vampire Hunters. Strange murders are happening around the area and the oldest brother learns that he might have been transformed to a vampire by his new found friends. The younger brother must now try and save him along with his new Vampire studying friends. The Lost Boys is a must watch for any horror fan, a Cult Classic! we all know that Vampires Sleep all Day and Party all night!
