5 out of 5 stars Incredible and Haunting   July 28, 2008
Exceptional. At first, I was unsure of this album, as I had not ever heard of the artist before. However, the music is incredible and can be described, on some tracks as haunting. I had the distinct pleasure of listening to it while on a long-distance train ride, and it made all the difference. I STRONGLY suggest it.

2 out of 5 stars Artist is Great! - Music is Great! - Production of the CD is terrible!   July 22, 2008

The music on this album is wonderful (heard several tracks on a local Classical Music Station. I own one of the Artists (Ludovico Einaudi) earlier albums, which was produced by BMG. The quality of the music is matched by the quality of the recording, over-all CD and packaging.
The Artists newest album, DIVENIRE, as purchased from Amazon is produced by a company called "Ponderosa Music & Art" and made in the EU. The packaging is cardboard cover, not great but OK. I personally prefer the full size plastic covers with rear insert listing the names of the tracks, the track # and sometimes the playing time of the track. The information printed on the DIVENIRE album cover is minimal at best and only lists the track names. An insert "booklet" provides some additional information about the music and other Artists on the CD. Overall the cover is attractively done, just not what I would prefer. The appearance of the CD is Satin Black on the printed side with a narrow outer band in Chrome lettering, providing the name of the Artist and Album, as well as copyright info. The Chrome lettering looks like it is already starting to fail, maybe not bonded well to the CD media.
The greatest disappointment with this CD is that the first one received from Amazon would not play consistently in my Bose Music system, very intermittent at best. That CD was returned to Amazon and a replacement was here in three days. A side note here, Customer Service at Amazon is really great!
CD #2 arrived today and once again it will not play in the Bose Wave Radio/CD Player. It will play in the component music system, when placed in the Sony CD/DVD player and there it does sound very good. I am very disappointed that the CD will not play in the player used the most. Another side note, "the Bose system is several years old, used daily and this is the first CD that has not played as one would expect". I like the music so well when it is played on the Sony player, I just may keep it.
I would hope that Ludovico Einaudi will find a Producer for his next album that will put as much care and quality into the packaged product as Ludovico puts into his music.

5 out of 5 stars Pure beauty   July 4, 2008
This is wonderful music. Much of the music I listen to is "background" music for some other activity. This can be used for that, too (e.g., a nice dinner party), but this is also great just by itself, to sit and listen to. I also play the piano, and I have found it to inspire my own "off-the-cuff" compositions.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent piano (et al.) compositions   January 19, 2008

Unlike some of the albums purchased based on listening to one or two tracks on the digital cable 'Soundscapes' music channel, this one is well worth investing in if you like that kind of music. Since I rarely do reviews, the fact that I'm spending the time to do this is indicative of how much I enjoy this album. It should be a must-buy for those who like classical piano, space/New Age music or (as I believe it was described somewhere) "acid jazz". Sorry, for a more in-depth review, see those who are more articulate than I am.

BRILLIANT!!! The stuff dreams are made of. Play it at a wedding or a wake. It's spellbinding stuff.
